Rackstuds are the revolutionary replacement for cage nuts which are used to mount IT, Pro A/V, Security, and Telecommunications equipment in 19” racks with square hole rails.

Rackstuds make it much easier to mount your gear because they go in from the front and provide you with a place to support your equipment while you spin on the lock nut. This makes inserting and removing Rackstuds much quicker and assists with mounting even heavy equipment as it no longer needs to be balanced in one hand!

Rackstuds are much simpler, faster, safer and very strong. Get yours today!

Rackstuds Installation

Unlike cage nuts, Rackstuds go in from the front which greatly simplifies their installation.

Rackstuds can be installed in seconds and are just as easy to remove and reuse. Populating a rack with equipment using Rackstuds is much faster and over the course of a rack build, can save you many hours. A typical network switch can be installed in under 55 seconds!

Rackstuds are also tool free and can be tightened sufficiently by hand, saving you even more time.

Rackstuds Compatibility

Rackstuds are made from a non-conductive fiber reinforced thermoplastic so they won’t pose an electrical threat to you or your gear. They are color coded too, so if you drop one they are easy to find and being plastic, they won’t scratch your equipment either!

Rackstuds fit 14 gauge EIA square punched vertical rails with 9.5mm (3/8”) holes.

Rackstuds Specifications

Able to hold electronics weighing up to 44 lbs. (20kg), Rackstuds were independently tested by SGS Labs in Auckland during both the prototyping phase and once the production tooling was complete. Three different tests were performed to measure the tensile strength of a single Rackstud (Push In, Pull Out, and Shear).

  • The average Push In number was 101lbs. (46kg)
  • The average Pull Out number was 202lbs. (92kg)
  • The average shear number was 343lbs. (156kg)
  • The amount of force required to shear a Rackstud was 111lbs. (50.4kg)
